The Unbroken Ground
What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus? The Unbroken Ground Podcast explores ways to follow Jesus. Sometimes answers are presented and sometimes the episode ends with more questions than answers. Just like following Jesus, producing this podcast is a journey - one I hope you will join and invite others to participate in. Ep. 42: Mountain Top Experience
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello Fellow Travelers! Unofficially, Paul season 2. One of the most impactful experiences of my life was spent at 11,000 ft in elevation, living outside a mountain town in southern Colorado. God brought me to a crucible that shaped me and exposed me to different ways of thinking about the world. This was no longer the deep south, conservative Christian country - I got to meet people who would forever change how I see God and the world.

Ep. 41: Where Are We Now?
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello Fellow Travelers! Finally, a topic I am an expert on. Me! In this episode, I think through the different twists and turns I experienced while pursuing where God was calling me. I never had a five-point plan to obtain my perfect job, and I always had a willing heart that was open to say yes to whatever and wherever I felt God leading. I hope you will find encouragement in knowing that God is a good father who directs our steps and shapes our hearts. I hope my story reminds you (as it reminded me as I walked back through it) of how good God is and how faithful He remains.

Ep. 40: The Results Are In
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello, Fellow Travelers! Have you ever made a good decision but gotten terrible results? Or have you had a bad decision that turned out just OK? This week's podcast focuses on what determines a good or bad decision. I listened to a course by Seth Godin where he interviewed Annie Duke on decision-making. Light bulbs exploded as I used the discussion to frame some of my recent life experiences. The last half of the podcast focuses, at least in part, on what this means as we add in a spiritual lens and dimension.

Ep. 39: In The Best Way
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello fellow travelers! Authority - what is it good for? I'm thinking about leadership again (sorry, it's stuck in my head/heart right now). Is authority leadership? If you have authority, are you a leader? If you are a leader, are you a good leader just because you have it? How did Jesus interact or think about earthly ideas of authority? Leaders, this is a good one to listen to and then think through how and why you lead. Who do you want to be like, the Good Shepherd or earthly kings?

Ep. 38: Failure is an Option
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello Fellow Travelers! How do leaders deal with failure and trust? Leaders must know how and what they communicate when working through failure. One key is realizing that as a leader, you have already gone through the change's mental, emotional, and spiritual realities that a change brings. But the people who are following you haven't. Don't leave them behind.

Ep. 37: Broken Trust and Leadership
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello, Fellow Travelers! Continuing in the theme of leadership, this week I pontificate on trust. Why do we trust leaders and people in leadership? There is both risk and benefit to an established cultural system that presumes trust. But broken trust can be deadly for a leader. Trust is one of the reasons to be wary of shortcuts for leadership. Leaders must always be vigilant for lack of accountability and ownership in their organizations which corrodes trust.

Ep.36: Wait, Just Wait
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello Fellow Travelers! How should we follow David's example of waiting for God to determine when he was to be king? David, as well as many other leaders, honed his leadership skills in the wilderness. What does that look like for a leader today? Where is God leading you to the wilderness, and where is God asking for your faithful patience? The episode is all about leadership lessons from the wilderness.

Ep. 35: Is All Leadership Manipulation?
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Saturday Oct 21, 2023
Hello fellow travelers! Leadership is on my mind this week as I think about authority and influence. Leadership will differ in the secular realm and the ministry realm. What matters most in being a good leader? Are there shortcuts you can take in leadership? What does Jesus teach and model in the Gospels?
